A B.Sc. (Hons) Food Science and Technology is an advanced 3-4 years undergraduate program with a focussed curriculum on food chemistry, microbiology, processing and safety. It emphasizes research, innovation, and technical skills in food quality management and product development.
The “Honours” tag indicates deeper subject expertise and often includes a research project or thesis. Students gain knowledge of food laws, packaging technologies, sensory evaluation, and emerging food technologies.
The department ensures enriching experience of classroom lessons through interactive sessions and practice at lab sessions. Seminars and workshops by eminent senior professors are organized throughout the year, by all the departments. The program offers the study of 3 Science papers, 2 Language papers, and papers on Foundation Courses & Environmental studies, each of which is allotted a minimum of four sessions per week, with more weightage given to the core domain subjects.
In the Language papers, English is mandatory, but the second language of study depends on the student’s choice among Telugu, Hindi and Sanskrit. High importance is attached to Lab sessions for all domain papers.
The department is equipped with well furnished class rooms, seminar halls, and a well-stocked library. Laboratories are an integral part of the science curricula. And as such, the college provides multiple labs for each of its departments, Computer, Chemistry, Physics, Botany and Nutrition.
We have well equipped laboratories to meet the experimental needs of the subject. The laboratories ensure a flexible framework in order to hold dynamic student work groups, research zones, and support equipment's in spacious arrangements.
